Daliconi is a small village from which one can sail to the Bay of Islands.
Our photos show the truck picking us up from the airport, taking us to a
beach from whence we got Ratu Joe's boat to Nawanawa and then he took us to
Daliconi.
This is the one big truck on the north of Vanua Balavu -
it took us to a bay where an ice making plant for fishermen is being
built.
Here we are wading into the boat.
This is what it looks like sailing around the headland
towards Daliconi and Nawanawa. Ratu Joe of Nawanawana is the
helmsman.
This is the beach at Daliconi - it is used by fisherfolk.
This is doing the Sevusevu ceremony in Daliconi.
By presenting Kava roots to the chief's son we received a blessing that
allowed us to walk around the area.
Here are children coming home from school and scenes
from the roadside near Daliconi. It is common to see horses
tethered with a rope in Fiji.
These are
views of the Daliconi bay and forest behind Nawanawa, where coconuts
grow.
This is the open air oven at Nawanawa where good bread
is made and a view of the peninsula where Nawanawa Estate is located.
