We had to leave Nawanawa Estate before dawn. Ratu Joe took us by boat
round the end of the peninsula. Then Helene came with us in a truck that
she had arranged to take us to the airport. We caught the Sunday morning
flight at 6:45 am.

Vanua Balavu
airport is tiny and the sun was beginning to rise as we arrived there.
The airport actually had a check-in counter. There we were weighed
with our baggage and hand luggage. |

The views
were spectacular as we made our way back to Suva - over reefs, the Koro
sea and small islands we flew in Air Fiji's Twin Otter. We flew
right past the Nawanawa Estate, then curved around to Lomaloma - so we
had an excellent view of the island. The flight was very
comfortable. One family was moving back to Suva and leaving the
island. |
